E aí? - Wassup? :)

After I finish a major project in miniature, I dive so deep into it, that it usually takes me a while do "decompress" from that immersion before I can "dive" into another one. That's why I haven't posted much lately. But that does not mean, at all, that miniatures haven't been happening to me! :)

Obrigada Drora!!!
First, good news: I was the thrilled and happy winner of Drora's giveaway. Yay! :) As usual, thanks to our overzealous customs, it took a looooooong time for it to reach me, but thank goodness (and Drora's excellent and careful packing) it all arrived safe and sound. Yes, I got all the items in this picture! Wow!!! They are so adorable I'll have to place them in very special scenes. Thank you Drora!!!

The book on the "floor" is a printed one with all the psalms. Precious!
Did you notice the background of that picture? Well, I took some corrugated cardboard sheets I've been "collecting" - they usually come with some magazines to keep them from bending when they have some item with them - and I followed a tutorial on miniatures.about.com on how to make a background for your pictures. So I made this one... I already knew how to make the wall paneling, but there is a great tutorial on Dada's dollhouse blog on it. I won't show more pictures of it because you'll be seeing it very often here... :)

This is the back & bottom of the structure:

Surprisingly, it turned out very sturdy!

É a Adriana Oliveira. ;)
I do have many UFOs (UnFinished Objects) and NESOs (Not Even Started Objects) to tackle next (and for the next 20 years, it seems...), but even before I could pick one, I was contacted by a friend and miniaturist here in Brazil, Adriana Oliveira, for a one-to-one swap. Each one of us could choose more or less what we wanted, but it'll still be a surprise. I have just finished mine, but I cannot show you. You know, not to spoil her surprise! :) But I can and will show you some extreme close-ups and distorted pictures of what I did. If you can guess what I made for her, you'll earn the right to swap with me too, if you want! :D Don't worry, you can decide if you really want to after I reveal what I made for her, later on. But the guess has to be made now, on this post, ok? ;)

  3. Thank you for posting, I really enjoyed your story First of all: Drora sent you beautiful miniatures ( I love her boxes covered with tiny shells!). Enjoy her gifts. I think I know what you are creating for you friend and I think she will be thrilled to receive it......but I won't spoil her surprise! :-)
Thanks for the links to the tutorials and concerning the workspace; however orderly I make my room , after a few hours of making minis it's a complete chaos again. I gave up long ago; I just resigned to putting everything back at it's usual place afterwards...so boring! Hugs, Liduina

    1. LOL, so true!... Tidy is boring! But, on the other hand, when I can get them reasonably organized I admit I do feel the creative juices flowing better.... or maybe is the laziness I feel just to think of the mountain of junk I'll have to move around to get the items I want is what vanishes? LOL!!!

Don't give up!!! Let's do this together!

  4. Please let's not compare workrooms. It's a sad situation.
I can also guess what you are crafting for your friend and am sure she'll be delighted to receive it.
I'm very happy my giveaway reached you in good shape and love the way you display it. Thanks.
    Hugs, Drora

  7. Hi Evelyne!
Your panelling looks perfect! ;) and thank you for linking to my blog..

You're right about order / disorder of the workroom! These days I'm organizing a space where I can build my dollhouse. Until now, I had to move each time tools, materials and miniatures on the kitchen table; I worked on my project and then I had to pack everything when it was time for cooking. It was a disaster.

In my new workroom I have put everything in cardboard boxes bought at Ikea for 1 euro and labeld them. But it is true... when you look for something (and most of the time you try to find tiny bits!), you are quite sure you will not find it! :) Not to mention when you take out what you need for working :(

    We share joy and pain!
    Un abbarccio
